Imagine that you’ve just said good-bye to the last of the wedding reception guests, and you’re thinking, “I spent a year planning this wedding, I’m tired, my feet are killing me, and I can’t wait to get out of these clothes, but I can’t believe it’s already over.”

The day will speed by like it’s rocket-propelled–especially with a tightly scheduled day. One solution: add in some open time between the ceremony and the reception. Use that time for a limo ride to a park, your local watering hole or anything that affords a quick, fun break. Your photographer gets some extra time for photojournalism (candid photography); you get some chill time with your friends.

Some call this type of schedule a “split wedding,” with its added time between the wedding and reception. Great idea, but is there pressure to eliminate gaps in the day for the benefit of out-of-town guests? Perhaps the wedding ceremony and reception are in the same place. Hmmm… are you okay with leaving your guests and reception to go off on your own? What are your guests going to do while you’re gone? You are, after all, the star of the show. Solution: give them something to do while you’re gone.

Whether or not you attend the entire reception, a photo booth is a great way to add a spark to any party. For maximum enjoyment, look for one that will allow your guests to:

Dress up with wigs, hats, crazy glasses, etc. from a prop box

Use a booth large enough to accommodate groups

Use costumes and creative poses to make unique photo keepsakes.

Create personalized pages for your photo album

Make videos

To send you well-wishes, blessings, congratulations, and messages

To tell funny stories

To show off costume creations, dances, songs, or whatever

Watch an on-going slide show of photos and videos played on a large monitor for all to see and enjoy

So as you say “good bye” to the last of your guests, expect lots of congratulations and thanks for planning a great party. And expect to continue enjoying your party as time goes on with the photos and videos that captured the time, life and people of your special day.

Well…, think about it. And don’t you just hate it when someone tells you to do that? It’s like, ok, my brain is working you know. But just a minute. What would the world be like without video?

Imagine that you only had a still camera for recording a family birthday or holiday celebration-no video. Imaging plopping down on your couch, remote in hand, to surf through the night’s available photo selections? Lame, right?

You say, “But this is different. We aren’t actors with an action-packed story to tell.”

But the greatest story is your life. Ask yourself (here I go again), in a fire, what’s the first thing you grab-family photos and videos or the Jason-X DVD?

Photos are great, but friends and family, their actions, gestures, voice, and words add a richness to your memories that can’t be duplicated by photos alone. That’s why video is so cool when recording even small events with family and friends. Whether it’s tonight after the house has been trashed, the party-goers have left, and you have your first chance to sit down and see it again, or 10 years from now, and you’re caught between reliving an event that has all but vanished from your memory, or marveling at the changes that time has wrought, video is it, man. It’s all that and more.

So use a photo booth that includes video as a choice.

Hopefully, you’ll keep me gainfully employed (rather than sitting on my couch watching the lame selection of tonight’s available videos) and choose Party-Time Photobooth. We’ve got video and photo in one booth.
